Product Details
The double-faced multi-seat fighter boasts the significant advantage of operating from a rear gun seat, offering more firepower than single-shot aircraft. This design allows for the possibility of carrying greater armaments and stacking more firepower, which enhances overall combat effectiveness. Additionally, producing two units focuses the weaponry around the aircraft's body, which is a notable merit.
From the mid-1930s, several countries that recognized this potential began developing aircraft capable of long-distance invasions, reconnaissance missions, night combat, and other operations. By October 1954, the Army had determined not to proceed with the use of the 45 model, which was the predecessor of the "Dragon Dragon." Instead, they ordered a performance-enhanced version of the 45. At Kawasaki, the outlook on improving the performance of the existing 45 model had turned grim. Under the leadership of engineer Takeo Doi, a new aircraft was being developed that utilized experiences from the 48 (99 type twin fire bomber).
This initiative led to the completion of Unit 1 in September 1945 as part of the 45 reform process. Although it was named Sokki 45, the design was entirely reengineered, resulting in what can be regarded as a completely new aircraft. The new model featured a larger frame compared to the 45, with a transition from an elliptical main wing to a straight tapered wing design. Additionally, the body of the aircraft was streamlined for better productivity.
The 45 reform saw significant enhancements, with the maximum speed surpassing the established requirement. Other performance aspects such as cruising distance were also improved in comparison to the original 45 model. By February 1952, this advanced aircraft was officially introduced as a two-seat double fighter, leading to a total production run of 1,690 units. Variants A, B, C, and D were produced, each differing based on armament configurations.
This product is a plastic model kit that requires assembly and painting. Please note, glue and paint are not included in the package. The kit contains all necessary parts to build one of each variant, providing the opportunity for modelers to have a hands-on experience of constructing this notable piece of aviation history.
